The Kirtland Federal Credit Union has matched $25,000 in donations made to the Ukraine Credit Union Displacement Fund through the credit union for a total donation in excess of $50,000.

“I’m grateful and humbled by the response of our members, our community, and the generosity of our members and entire team here at Kirtland FCU,” said Matt Rarden, President and CEO of Kirtland Federal Credit Union. “This is such an important cause and credit unions excel when it comes to helping our communities.”

Credit unions are integral to the communities they serve. Recent events in Ukraine are severely impacting families, and the credit union system in Ukraine has been challenged to continue the critical support services they offer to the communities they serve.

To aid in their fight, the Worldwide Foundation of Credit Unions (WWFCU) and the World Council of Credit Unions (WCCU) launched the Ukrainian Credit Union Displacement Fund in early March, a fundraising effort to collect and provide financial support to mitigate both the short and long-term impacts to Ukraine’s credit union system, its employees, and the members and communities of Ukraine.

Kirtland FCU quickly developed a matching donations program that triggered an overwhelming response.

“The first wave of donations has already been dispersed from the Worldwide Foundation of Credit Unions and the World Council of Credit Unions,” said Rarden. “Our members’ and employees’ generosity is already being felt.”

That recent release of funds, according to a news release from the WWFCU and WCCU, went to the Podolsk Regional Development Agency (PARD), a Ukrainian non-governmental organization that is providing humanitarian assistance to hundreds of refugees from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol, Kherson, Melitopol and other cities who are seeking refuge in the Vinnytsia region of western Ukraine.

Kirtland FCU will continue to accept donations to the fund through April 30, 2022. Anyone wanting more information or wishing to donate to the fund can do so by visiting us online (KirtlandFCU.org), stopping by any branch or by calling 1.800.880.5328.
